It’s Been a Minute…

Wow - how quickly new routines fall apart. Seems I haven’t posted anything for over two months. Sorry, Erin.

I’ve seen you, we’ve talked, you know what has filled my schedule recently, so I am not going to beat myself up too badly for falling behind in terms of posting 2x a month. However, I am going to call myself out for not having done enough to make time for things that matter most to me.

Busy, busy, busy. There’s a whole lot of busy that keeps us from working out, calling our friends, getting enough sleep, writing our blog, posting on social…whatever it is. And any crisis is an easy excuse to interrupt wellness routines and crowd out time for the little things that help us reach our long term goals.

Goodness knows I’ve had to deal with few crises lately. And yes, I’ve been busy. Or, better said, I’ve made myself busy. Funny how “I’ve been busy” is passive voice - as if something was done to us that forced us to lose control of the rest of our life. Worse, I’ve had “post blog” on my weekly to-do list every single week since the last post (in March!!) And yet, here we are. My own time-honored daily/weekly/monthly time management system wasn’t enough to keep me from putting off the very thing that gives me job. All in service to “more urgent” tasks. That’s on me.

Grace. Gotta give myself grace. That’s a thing for sure. Fine. I’m not mad - but I am wondering about how to succeed moving forward.

  • Review whether my goal was reasonable and possibly reset the goal?

  • Reread Atomic Habits?

  • Put a meeting on my calendar to block off time?

  • Bullet journaling?

  • Accountability buddy?

  • Create some change management process for myself?

  • Write a handful of blogs to hold in reserve so that I have material for when things get “busy” again?

  • Set up some kind of personal incentive system?

  • Just jump back in and start posting…?

I’m going to pick the last one. Let’s jump back in…. Thanks for your patience!

Love, Mom
